I am thrilled to say I am back to my normal training volume and intensity this week after posterior tibial tendinitis derailed my train somewhat last week. I ran 79 miles, and was able to successfully complete two quality work outs.
Monday - 13 miles easy at 8:02 average pace
Tuesday - 8 miles easy at 8:44 average pace
Wednesday - loved this work out from my coach! 3 mile warm up at 8:14 average pace. 7 mile alternating tempo of 6:40, 7:39, 6:40, 7:39, 6:40, 7:39, 6:40. 3 mile cool down at 8:20 average pace. I previously haven't spent much time running faster than goal marathon pace so I found this rather intimidating on paper. Next time I won't be so apprehensive.
Thursday - 11 miles easy @ 8:14 average pace
Friday - 9 miles easy @ 8:35 average pace, ending the run with 8 x 20 second strides
Saturday - another challenge. 5 mile warm up at 8:10 pace, then launched into 4 x 2 miles at marathon pace (7:00 - 7:05 target), with the last set targeting 6:55 - 7:00 (6:58 actual!). I cooled down with 3.25 miles at 8:12 average pace. This did not feel as easy as I wanted it to, so I was a little disappointed given how good I felt in Wednesday's work out. So I'm choosing to focus on my Wednesday success and move forward.
Sunday - 8 miles easy at 8:39 average pace, ending with 7 x 20 second strides.
I am so thankful my tendinitis was a minor bump in the road and I am back to full on training. Only seven weeks to go! To be safe, I will see my dry needling specialist for a few more treatments and keep up with my Theraband exercises.
I mentioned last week I am honored to be a Gazelle Sports Activator for 2017. This week I will be attending the kickoff party and am looking forward to meeting the other ambassadors for this great store. Wednesday I stopped in a did a bit of shopping, and picked up these:
Adidas Supernova
I have not tried Adidas shoes up until now and will write a review after I get 50 or so miles on them. So far they meet my main criteria - wide in the toe box and lots of cushioning.
Hope you all run happy this week!
